Write about your first day of school in Sec 1 2005.
It was the start of my secondary school life and I was really excited about it. On the first day of school, we were to report to the school hall and that was the first time I met my fellow classmates. Those were faces that I had never seen before, and that was the time when I really hoped that there will be familiar faces around me. Although I were really scared and afraid, I hoped that I would be able to make new friends.
When we were walking into the hall, the principal, teachers and seniors welcomed us warmly, and that really made me feel at home. The then-principal, Ms Chamb, gave speech and she also introduced the teachers to us. After the morning assembly, my form teacher, Ms Heng brought us back to our classroom. She introduced herself to us, and told us about her past experiences. She also told us interesting facts that we did not know, and that really made me feel that her lessons would be fun and interesting.
After the lessons, we went for recess and that was when I made my first friend in the secondary school, Sherlyn. We chat about everything which is under the sun, and that made us know each other better.
When the recess was over, the friendly student councilors brought us around the school for a tour. They told us the locations of the different rooms. We were to proceed to the hall after the school tour and we played ice-breakers. Our class formed a circle and played games such as “whacko”, “concentration” and “blow wind blow”. Those games really made our class more united and enthusiastic. We also get to know our new classmates better.
The councilors also taught us mass dance patiently although the dance steps were quite complicated. After a few hours of dancing, we were dismissed from school.
Through the whole day, I learnt a lot and that really made the day worthwhile and memorable although it could be quite tiring. There were also times where the class laughed together and helped each other when we were in need. From what I see, everyone was of different character and there were times when we need to give in to each other. Thus, I ended off my day happily.
