Letter to Mrs Sim
Dear Mrs Sim,
It has been a long time since we last saw each other and I have quite a number of things that I would like to share with you.
It has been two months since I started as a Secondary Four student. Time flies and I still remember myself as a Secondary One student. At that point of time, I always thought that there was still a very long journey ahead before Secondary Four life.
I feel that there are a lot of things that have changed as compared to the previous years in Kent Ridge Secondary School. We are able to sit in the gallery during assembly, and that’s what we had always been looking forward to since Secondary One. We are also required to change the collar pins to iron-on badges, as they are afraid that we will forget to put on our collar pins. The walls around the school have also been repainted and seem more colourful as compared to the other years, as there is a different colour for each block.
There has also been a change of teachers, and we need to make certain adjustments due to different teaching styles. We are also fortunate to have many experienced teachers to teach us different subjects and guide us along. This year, the teachers are stricter with us, and they have a higher expectation of us in terms of attitude. They felt that we should settle down to be more serious rather than fooling around in class, as we are taking our ‘O’ levels this year.
Remedials are also a must for us almost everyday. Although it can be tiring at times, I think that it is worth it and we will surely benefit through this. We are also able to learn more and to get prepared for ‘O’ levels.
There are also more leadership responsibilities which are required of us. We have a much more important role in CCA as compared to last year because, we as seniors, need to impart our skills to the juniors.
Although there are many changes in 2008, I still feel that we should work hard and strike towards our goal. Lastly, I hope that you will be able to succeed in your career, and most importantly, take good care of yourself!
